NIOS Bridge Course Portal Launch
📋 Overview
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has launched the Registration Portal for the 6-Month Certificate Course (Bridge) in Primary Teacher Education, to be offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode.
This Bridge Course is only meant for primary teachers who:
- Were appointed with B.Ed. degree in accordance with NCTE’s notification dated 28.06.2018
- Were in-service prior to the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s judgement delivered on 11.08.2023
- Were appointed between 28 June 2018 to 11 August 2023

🎯 Eligibility Criteria
- In-service primary teachers appointed between 28 June 2018 to 11 August 2023
- Must hold a B.Ed. degree
- Currently teaching at primary level (Classes I-V)
- Appointments protected under NCTE Gazette Notification F. No. NCTE-Reg. 012/2018 dated 28th June 2018
Note: Mere registration does not guarantee admission. Candidates must ensure compliance with eligibility conditions prescribed by NCTE and the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

📚 Programme Structure
The programme comprises six theory courses and one school experience component, totaling 20 credits.
Understanding childhood, development, learning theories, and inclusive classrooms.
Curriculum design, teaching techniques, learning resources, and assessment methods.
Teaching methodology for Hindi/Regional Language.
Teaching methodology for English/other than Language-I.
Mathematics education approaches and resources.
Integrated approach to Environmental Studies.
20 days of teaching practice, portfolio development, and reflective journal.

Passing Criteria
- 50% for Practical (School Experience)
- 40% for Theory Exam

- Application Form: Fill personal details, appointment date, address, subject and medium
- Document Upload:
- Recent passport size photo
- Signature
- B.Ed. degree certificate
- Appointment letter
- Self-certificate signed by School Principal
- Fee Payment: Pay online through debit/credit card, net banking or UPI
- Verification: Application verified by School Principal and State Nodal Officer
- Enrollment: Receive enrollment number and home school details
Important: A valid UDISE+ school code is mandatory for registration. This should be the school where the teacher is presently teaching/in-service.

This Bridge Course has been instituted in compliance with:
- Hon’ble Supreme Court judgment dated 08.04.2024 (Civil Appeal No. 5068 of 2023)
- NCTE Gazette Notification F. No. NCTE-Reg. 012/2018 dated 28th June 2018
- Recognition granted by Northern Regional Committee, NCTE vide F.No. NRC/NCTE/441st Meeting (Volume–3) SL No. 34/2025/233333–233338 dated 02.07.2025
Supreme Court Directive: “The candidates having B.Ed. qualification whose appointments we are protecting in this judgment, will have to undergo a bridge course… Failure of any candidate to participate and complete the course within the timeframe… will invalidate the appointment of such candidate.”
