ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern
The ISC Class 12 examinations follow a theory and practical-based assessment pattern, designed to evaluate students’ understanding of core concepts as well as applied skills. Most subjects, especially Science and Home Science, have two components: a theory paper and a practical/project component, with the practical marks contributing significantly to the final grade. Theory papers are usually 2–3 hours long, with questions covering short answers, long answers, and application-based problems.
Languages, including English and regional languages, include separate papers for language skills and literature. Elective and creative subjects such as Art, Music, and Fashion Designing may have additional practical or project submissions. Understanding the marking scheme and time allocation helps students strategise preparation and exam attempts effectively.
